Accredited Association Management Company (AAMC)

The Accredited Association Management Company designation is granted by the Community Associations Institute, the national organization dedicated to building better communities. CAI created the AAMC because boards had no reliable way to tell one management company from another when the proposals all looked the same.

To hold the accreditation a company must employ credentialed managers, have a senior manager who holds the PCAM designation, meet minimum experience requirements, carry appropriate insurance and fidelity coverage, and follow the CAI professional code of ethics.

For a board, partnering with an AAMC firm means the company has already been measured against a national standard for training, financial controls, and business practice. Questions about whether managers are credentialed or whether procedures exist are answered before the first meeting.

For a homeowner it means the people who handle assessments, records, and building maintenance work inside a documented process, supervised by managers who are accountable to a professional body as well as to the board.

The AAMC is an ongoing commitment rather than a one-time award. Requirements must be met continuously, credentials must stay current, and the accreditation is renewed rather than simply kept. Advantage Management is one of a small number of firms in Illinois to hold it.
